  1. Google maps has worked surprisingly well around the world and even meant we didn't need to rent a GPS in New Zealand. I'd also like to add Triposo. We're long-term travelers and have been traveling for over a year now. I use the app to figure out what I want to do, but it's also great at putting together city walks for when we want to explore a place on foot.
